Wilhelm Scream
Have you noticed that a scream sound effect is present in many movies and tv shows? That’s right it exists and it’s not only in your head… it is called the Wilhelm Scream… and its origin goes back to 1951 with the Warner Bros. film “Distant Drums” directed by Raoul Walsh.
However it gets its name from a later movie character named Pvt. Wilhelm (played by Ralph Brooke), that movie is “The Charge at Feather River” (1953).
